Kathmandu Nagarkot Trekking is one of the most scenic spots only an hour drive from Kathmandu lies at an elevation of 14,00 meters. The place is the most popular hill-station of Kathmandu, if not of Nepal! Why not? Nagarkot is only 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu, so you can easily access the place in a short drive. Perfect for any outdoor camping or a family outing, you get to enjoy one of the most mesmerizing sunrise and sunsets. Therefore, we would highly recommend you to stay here overnight and wake up to the most beautiful sunrise above the snow-capped peaks of Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east. On a clear day, Kathmandu Nagarkot trek bestows you with the unobstructed view of Mighty Everest, and other peaks including Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang.
Kathmandu chisapani Nagarkot trek has dense & luscious forests, offering a great view of the ancient Bhaktapur city from the hill –top. Trekking Route: The most common starting point for the Nagarkot trek is the town of Sankhu, which is accessible by road from Kathmandu. From Sankhu, the trek takes you through beautiful countryside, terraced fields, and small villages before reaching Nagarkot.
Duration: The trek can be completed in 2-3 days, depending on your pace and the route you choose.
Best Time to Trek: The best time to go trekking in Nagarkot is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer clear skies, pleasant weather, and great visibility of the mountains.
Accommodation: Along the trekking route, there are teahouses and lodges that offer basic accommodation and meals. Nagarkot itself has various hotels and resorts that cater to tourists.
Permits: As of my last update in September 2021, there were no specific permits required for the Nagarkot trek. However, it's always best to check with local authorities or your trekking agency for the latest information on permits and regulations.
Difficulty Level: The Nagarkot trek is considered relatively easy, with mostly gentle slopes and well-defined trails. It is suitable for trekkers of all ages and fitness levels.
Highlights: The main highlight of the Nagarkot trek is undoubtedly the breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. On a clear day, you can see some of the world's highest peaks, including Mount Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, and many more.
Packing Essentials: Be sure to pack comfortable trekking gear, including sturdy walking shoes, warm clothing (temperatures can drop in the evenings), a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bottle, and a camera to capture the incredible vistas.
